Congratulations to everyone who is part of team Knet on BOINC! We have finally reached our 2 year longterm goal of 100,000 BOINC points! We have decided to increase our goal to 250,000 points by 2010, if possible. I encourage everyone who is not part of the world community grid to sign up and join team Knet!

Let us, together, make the world a better place!

Ohhh Heinz…. What to do with you?

(London) Heinz Co. said viewer complaints prompted it to pull a British television advertisement for mayonnaise that showed two men kissing.

British gay rights group Stonewall said it was shocked that Heinz had yanked what it called an “innocuous” ad and urged gay consumers to boycott the company.

The ad, which was launched on British television just over a week ago and was meant to run for five weeks, was taken off the air Friday, Heinz said in a statement released Monday.

Time to boycott Heinz? Or maybe we should give them credit for trying, even though they have no backbone.

The gay holocaust

Homosexuality has been taboo ever since the rise of Christianity and Islam. We have been prosecuted, beaten, killed, threatened, and tortured for thousands of years. This is our holocaust. You might as well just round us up in concentration camps like the Jews, but oh wait, they already do that [in a manner] in some countries. Remember when Canada turned back Jewish refuge ships? Canada kicks out homosexual refugees too, only to be returned to their country and killed. It was not right then, and it is not right now. It is time to put an end to our holocaust.

Please spread the word to the youth of Canada…

First National Climate Survey on Homophobia and Transphobia in Canadian Schools climatesurvey.ca

We would like to ask you to consider participating in a survey research project designed to explore the experiences of homophobia and transphobia of students in Canadian Schools. The aim of the project is to document the realities of life at school for both straight and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, Two Spirit, intersex, queer, and questioning (LGBTTIQ) students in Canada, with the goal of providing policy makers and educators with information that will help them make schools safer and more respectful. We also plan to report on what we find through our survey in education conferences and scholarly journals and distribute it widely through the work of Egale Canada. The survey is anonymous and can be completed online or printed at www.climatesurvey.ca . Read More …

Kay Pettigrew and Being Queer

This reading week has been pretty good. I had a decent time when I went home last weekend, and I had a pretty, well, interesting time when I met up with Jessica and her friends. I met a lot of new gays and lesbians, and they all seem to be great people. It really feels comfortable being in a setting where no one really judges you, where you are surrounded by people who accept you. Read More …
