Course Dropped

First of all, I dropped my course with the 190$ textbook since I did not need it, and I deemed it unnecessary work! Overall, I am having a much better time without that beasty and useless computer course! Huzzah!

The Easy Way Out!

In other news, it seems I am getting more and more rides back from class, its as if I never take the bus from campus to back home anymore, it is pretty awesome! Not sure how long this will last, but hey, I have no problem accepting free rides!

OSI Failure

As for the OSI failure, I really needed MS Office on my school laptop so I decided to use my windows partition as my main system instead. however, as soon as I started using it, I was reminded how much I hate windows. Crashes and slowdowns galore! I ended up having to reformat everything! So, I think we can forgive the i told you sos, because, all in all, Linux is better…the only problem is developers don’t support it yet. In any case, my laptop is back to windows; although, as a security obsessed person for fear of identity theft and other hackings [which i have been shown how easily it can be done first handed], I am in search of the perfect security system. It has boiled down to this…

Avira antivir [free] + vista firewall

Avira & Outpost firewall [$]

Nod32 antivirus [expensive] + outpost firewall [$]

Nod32 security suit [expensiver]

OTHER

Nod 32 is whithout a doubt the best and yet the leanest of the bunch, and I have noticed little slowdown using 30 day trial of the security suit. Although I have doubts about its firewall capabilities, and I am not sure if I can actually afford to buy a copy of nod32.

Game Addiction

My friend sent me a free trial of Team Fortress 2 and I am addicted to it. I will probably end up buying it, just so that we have something to play together online when we don’t want to meet up! Gives us something fun to do as well. I think everyone should try this game, it only costs 20$ and I will be buying it soon.

Scaryness

It took me 3 hours to figure out how to login to rashidville. I had no idea what happened! And, for security reasons, or more so pure laziness, I am not going to tell you. huzah!

In other scariness news, I get to go to my placement position in a school on thursday. I may take a taxi the first time just so I don’t get lost on the bus… or take the wrong one!

One Hundred Pushups Campaign

Have you ever heard of onehundredpushups? Well, I am beginning week 2 and i have already doubled the amount of push-ups I can do! I started this because I stopped jogging, and I figured I had to do something with all the crappy foods I am eating! Yay for being a student!

Teachers college

Oh dear god. Teachers college applications! What a pain in the ***…. Not to mention, it will cost me a damned fortune! Anybody want to send be a check?

Courses

Courses are going well so far. Readings are hard to keep up with, I feel I am already behind! Especially since I have spent the last few days fixing up friggen vista! GRR. But it is ok, because I have it set up almost perfectly now! But I will most likely have to reformat my desktop version as well at some point. It is getting rather slow. Here is hope for windows 7 [aka Vista light].

Waking Up

I am trying really hard to wake up at a decent time, but it is really hard to do! My goal is 10:00am, I have cut it down from 12:00 to 11:00. One more hour to go!

Super Secret Section!

Well, maybe it is more of a proposal than anything… Please, check out this page of my site and give it serious thought!

So, this weekend has been filled with attempted work and much procrastination. I did manage to make some very delicious dishes including…

1. Onions, red peppers, butter, oil, lemon juice, and asparagus all fries up.

2. Chicken parmasean (with courtney)

Lots of laundry and cleaning was also done.

Courtney and I did a mural of all the religions in the world on the wall (because we didn’t want to do work).

Courtney and I also put a picture of stephen harper in the window just for fun and jokes, as well as a hitler picture on the mantal which did not go so well among kollene. Although the rest of us had good laughs and it will be an awesome story to tell anyways. Besides, it was all meant in good fun. Have you tried searching the urban dictionary for hitler? You get some really hilarious results!

Inge and I had a study date, but ended up getting kicked out of LEC and we went to tim hortons instead (eating our own food and being noisy). We also sang a song n stuff in the middle of timmies. We had awesome laughs and an awesome time.

I have also started the 100 push up challenge. I managed to do 11, we will see how many i will be able to do at a later point.

I have fallen in love with this song that Inge introduced me too… and ended up singing it in timmies.

In the end, I have ended up with a crapload of work and I have no idea what to do with myself.; Soooo much work! I would probably go nutso but I am having an awesome time and having a lot of laughs with all my friends. I would have to say my education course with Amanda and Shannon is where I have the most laughs…. they are awesome, and I get a ride back home In my WWII class, I will be having my second class on tuesday so the verdict is still to be made, although I am very sketched. But at least I have amanda and Meg there, whom I made burst out laughing in the middle of class after telling them i was the only brown person in class.

This is definately going to be my hardest year, but it looks like it will be pretty fun anyways. I just hope i don have to take a 5th year! yeesh.

Both my Desktop and Laptop computers have not been rebooted for 2 weeks! I use them daily and frequently with lots of internet surfing and multi-media, not to mention BOINC running in the backgorund! My lovely machines running linux are just as fast as when they were first booted up.

I challenge you to do this with a windows based machine. With vista, it is possible, but it still ends up in severe performance drops, and you will also most likely have to reinstall windows much sooner.

Just a bit of linux propaganda, because no one else does. Root for the underdog!

Yesterday I went wandering downtown yesterday with mom which was quite fun. First we went to check out honest ed’s (30 cents for a bottle of water… that IS honest!), then we walked to chinatown which was cool although very busy and we were too scared to try any of the food since we didn’t know what was good or not. Then we walked to Shopsy’s for a hamburger, which I somehow managed to eat even though still swollen I am, then we went to the busker fest which had some very cool things going on.

There was very good music by a number of different people on different stages, there were acrobats, lots of food stalls, tiny tim’s doughnuts, and much more! (A picture from my oh-so-beautiful camera phone… I don’t think there are any aliens in this one!)

After that we went to Dundas square and listened to music there for a bit but returned to the Busker Fest since their music was crapola! Then we went back home after a tiring day.

Today, we plan on going to cookstown just for something to do.
