Unclutter your paper & Lug a Mug
Written by Rashid on November 26, 2007 – 1:52 pmDo you have mass amounts of paper lying around or stuck in filing cabinets? Do you buy a lot of hot drinks from coffee shops? Read on to find out ways to unclutter your paper collection and green your hot-drink-drinking habits! It is time to break out that scanner and start lugging that mug…
Unclutter your paper
This has been directly inspired by Unclutterer… Unclutterer issues that buying a Fujitsu ScanSnap is a great idea to unclutter one’s paper. It is a full duplex scanner, meaning tat it scans both sides at once, and is blazing fast and easy to use; with both mac and pc versions. I decided to bring out the ol’ scanner to do just that. Although it is a slow flatbed scanner, it get’s the job done without creating more waste (buying yet another piece of technology). Although, I hate to admit it, I would really enjoy that Fujitsu ScanSnap, and if I had the cash, I would get it.
I have been scanning old bills, cards, letters, and other items. There is no need to keep around piles of paper, I am just going to put everything in the recycling…
Other methods include getting bills sent online, do more emails than paper mail, and other methods.
Green your hot drinking Habits: Lug a Mug
Do you frequent the coffee shop, buying tea’s, hot-chocolate, coffee, and other hot beverages? It is time to lug a mug. These waxed paper cups can only be recycled in some areas, and even then, paper can only be recycled so many times until it start to degrade… It is time to stop throwing out paper mugs, but bringing your own re-usabe mug. The advantages?
- Help the environment
- You get more drink for your money
- Insulation, your drink stays warmer longer
- no more burning hands on those paper cups
- the warm feeling you get after reaping the benefits by lugging a mug.

hmmmm…you mean put all your valuable papers and billing information on your hard drive…so some guy in Russia doesn’t just get some of your identity…he gets ALL of it?
My suggestion is you get all that paper and decide whether you REALLY need it…and if you don’t get rid of it.
P.S. just make sure you get a really good shredder…

Besides, there are extremely good encryption methods available. http://www.truecrypt.org anyone?
Much stuff I keep is old birth day cards, letters, notes, etc. That I feel too bad throwing away. Now I get to keep them without the clutter!
